The Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association (EORLA) has completed a large digital pathology implementation in Canada—an ambitious, cloud‑first deployment of Fujifilm’s Synapse Pathology PACS system hosted on AWS. This webinar brings those lessons directly to the field. A joint Fujifilm–AWS production team visited EORLA on site, capturing interviews, workflow demonstrations, and behind‑the‑scenes perspectives from the pathologists, technical leaders, and operational stakeholders who made this transformation possible.

Mark is an executive and scientist with over 20 years of successful innovation in cancer diagnostics and advanced image analysis of histological samples. He has excelled in both start-up and academic environments, adding energy and enthusiasm while providing leadership and focus. His experience includes work in basic and translational science of tumor biology, ecology and evolution of cancer as well as the founding, development, management and sale of an international healthcare software company. Mark has a detailed understanding of life and medical sciences and specializes in the invention and translation of disruptive technologies to the marketplace. He serves as the VP of Pathology at Fujifilm.
Cory Bell
Director, Information Systems & Technology
Cory Bell is a seasoned healthcare IT leader with 30 years of experience, in progressive leadership roles, building and leading high-performing teams while driving strategic transformation through technology. He has delivered complex, large-scale technology initiatives across hospital and regional healthcare environments.
Currently serving as Director of Information Systems and Technology at Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association, Cory provides leadership to a team supporting laboratory information systems and technology across 16 member hospitals. He is responsible for advancing digital strategy, ensuring operational excellence, and enabling innovation in one of Ontario’s largest regional laboratory networks.
Cory’s career spans leadership roles in both operational and project-based environments. Cory has successfully led major regional initiatives, including multi-hospital Electronic Health Record (EHR) implementations, system consolidations, and the development of shared service models supporting thousands of clinical users.
Patrice Boulianne
Regional Discipline Manager - Diagnostic & Molecular Pathology
Accomplished healthcare laboratory leader with over 25 years of progressive experience in anatomic, diagnostic, and molecular pathology across large academic and regional laboratory systems. Proven expertise in laboratory operations, quality management, digital health transformation, and interdisciplinary leadership. Since 2022, has led the comprehensive transformation of Anatomical Pathology through the Anatomic Pathology Modernization Project, including the transition to digital pathology and the automation of laboratory services to enhance quality, efficiency, and sustainability. Currently serving as Regional Discipline Manager with the Eastern Ontario Regional Laboratory Association, providing strategic oversight for diagnostic and molecular pathology services, including molecular hematology and HLA/Tissue Typing. Recognized for driving system-wide change in complex, high‑volume environments, optimizing service delivery, and fostering high-performing, engaged teams. Respected mentor and educator with a strong record of scholarly contributions, national committee involvement, and award‑winning collaboration.
