PROVIDENCE, RI — The liquid stable, ready-to-use MATRIX PLUS™ Cholesterol Reference Kit, containing known concentrations of both cholesterol and uric acid, is now available from Verichem Laboratories.  The materials are expressly designed to support overall system QC and CLIA compliance and are intended for the calibration, or calibration verification, of both cholesterol and uric acid “wet” assays on clinical testing systems. The kit is sure to address the needs of a wide variety of clinical laboratory professionals, including those performing clinical diagnostic and research testing, as well as those involved with the development and manufacturing of in vitro diagnostic (IVD) products, as the product is a valuable tool in determining a clinical system’s bias to the true, or known, value.  By maintaining a constant protein content and neutral pH across concentration levels, the unique formulation and set point design of these reference materials are crucial for the independent determination of test method accuracy, sensitivity, linearity, and reportable range.

In conjunction with the optional sixth Level F, this standard kit offers six separate levels, covering twelve 12 individual concentration points. The cholesterol concentrations range from 40 to 750 mg/dL, while the uric acid range is 2.0 to 30.0 mg/dL. The materials are intended to be treated as patient specimens and suitable for a wide variety of testing analyzers and assay methodologies. Verichem Laboratories’ MATRIX PLUS™ Cholesterol Reference Kit is packaged in ready-to-use, liquid stable format, incorporating a bovine sourced protein based matrix containing both esterified and free cholesterol for true serum-like reactivity. The unique formulation features minimal lot-to-lot variation and is free of glycols, surfactants, azide, and other interfering substances. Each active component is verified using available Standard Reference Materials from the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and fully documented with a certificate of analysis (CoA).

In addition, Verichem Laboratories’ MATRIX PLUS™ Cholesterol Reference Kit offers exceptional optical clarity and is conveniently packaged for multi-use containing 15 milliliters (15.0 mL) of material for each of the six levels contained within each kit. Each of the levels are filled into easy-to-use, opaque polyethylene dropper vials and offer an outstanding shelf-life stability claim of 21 months from the date of manufacture.
