Laboratory results provide critical information that influences a large percentage of medical decisions necessary for good patient care. To provide accurate laboratory results, all aspects of a laboratory's operation must be aligned. Effective leadership is key to ensuring the accuracy, reliability, and timely communication of test results, but what else defines lab quality? And how can it be operationalized or measured?
During this presentation, Nancy Ross, MS, MT(ASCP), CQIA, CMQ/OE, CLC, will define “laboratory quality,” and discuss its different aspects. The speaker will also share some tools for managers to keep track of quality indicators and provide a simple framework for driving performance improvement initiatives in the laboratory. This session will further discuss the different tools and ideas that lab managers can use to continuously improve their lab's performance.
