In March 2023, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued final rulemaking on regulating six per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in drinking water and associated guidelines for testing and treatment. Since then, the topic of PFAS has gotten a lot of attention due to ongoing research to investigate the effects of human exposure.

In this talk, we will review and highlight some of the latest research on PFAS exposure and women’s health effects, including infertility, pregnancy complications, and developmental effects in children exposed in utero. We will also touch on the challenges with testing samples for PFAS from an analytical standpoint, some of the approaches that have been developed to address these challenges, including how to approach the measurement of the >5,000 PFAS thought to exist.

After attending this webinar, you will

•Understand what PFAS are and sources of exposure

•Understand current research on impact of exposure on women’s health

•Understand how some PFAS are excreted from the body and remediated in the environment

•Understand analytical challenges and approaches to PFAS biomonitoring
