Genetic testing allows clinicians to obtain more detailed information about and more accurately diagnose a patient’s disease. While oncology has been leading the field of genetic testing, other applications are also seeing benefits such as the diagnosis of orphan disease and the pre-natal diagnosis of rare diseases. The potential applications for genetic testing will continue to grow as new technologies become available.
