Though CRISPR-Cas systems are largely known for their gene editing abilities, researchers have shown that they can be harnessed for molecular diagnostic applications. CRISPR-based molecular diagnostics offer quick and accurate nucleic acid testing with single base-pair specificity, without the need of a complex laboratory setup.
