Stephanie Buxhoeveden, PhD, MSN, FNP-BC, MSCN, is a nurse practitioner, researcher, and dedicated advocate for people living with multiple sclerosis (MS). Diagnosed with MS at the age of 25, she turned her personal experience into a professional mission—combining clinical expertise, research, and advocacy to improve outcomes for those affected by the disease.

Buxhoeveden began her career as a neurosurgical ICU nurse before specializing in MS care, where she co-directed an MS Comprehensive Care Center, overseeing treatment for more than 1,000 patients. Witnessing the gaps in care firsthand, she pursued a PhD at Virginia Commonwealth University, focusing on sex-based disparities in MS and the epigenetic drivers of neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration.

Now serving as the chief scientific officer of the Accelerated Cure Project, Buxhoeveden leads groundbreaking initiatives that bridge the gap between research and real-world impact. She is also a longtime consultant for Can Do MS, hosts their podcast, and serves on the Board of Trustees for the National MS Society Virginia-West Virginia Chapter, where she champions community engagement.
