Michael Valentine

Michael Valentine is the Lab Operations Manager for Diversigen. Prior to joining the team, he was the Sr. Lab Manager and biosafety representative for the Pathogen and Microbiome Division of the Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen North) in Flagstaff, Arizona.  At TGen his work focused on public health using next generation sequencing (NGS) techniques for diagnostic development, infectious disease surveillance, genomic epidemiology, and clinical testing.  During the pandemic, Valentine served as the Logistics Section Chief for TGen Covid-19 Incident Command that assisted Arizona Department of Health and other state agencies in clinical testing and variant tracking. He received his undergraduate degree in Zoology and Master of Science in Biology from Northern Arizona University. His expertise is in microbiology, molecular biology, genomic epidemiology, laboratory construction, management and biosafety.
